Frontman Blackie Lawless has confirmed that W.A.S.P.

is actively working on a new studio album to follow up on their 2015 release 'Golgotha'.

In multiple interviews spanning from 2024 to 2025, Lawless detailed the band's ongoing songwriting efforts, noting that the project began during breaks between tours and intensified after a back injury sustained during a European tour in 2024.

He revealed that while early demos showed promise, the material has not yet reached a point of completion, with Lawless stating, 'there is some good moments, but it's not consistent.' Lawless emphasized that the new album must surpass the quality of the band’s legacy records — particularly 'Golgotha', which he described as one of the best albums he's ever been part of.

He explained that modern artists face an intense challenge when creating new music, as it is constantly compared to the songs fans have romanticized over decades.

'Your new album effectively becomes your opening act,' he said.

'And your opening act has to try harder just to get noticed.' The band's latest release, 'ReIdolized (The Soundtrack To The Crimson Idol)', came out in February 2018 as a re-recorded version of their 1992 classic 'The Crimson Idol', featuring four tracks not present in the original.

In November 2023, Lawless reiterated that making records today is no longer about commercial success, but about legacy, stating, 'Nobody makes money making records anymore.

So if you're going to make records now, you're doing it because of your legacy.' In addition to the new album, W.A.S.P.

has announced the '1984 To Headless' 2026 U.S.

and Canada tour, which kicks off on September 10 in California and runs through October 31.
