Sharon Den Adel, vocalist of Dutch symphonic metallers WITHIN TEMPTATION, has confirmed in an interview with Metal Hammer Germany that the band’s next album will mark a 'huge' and '100% different' shift in sound from their previous work.

Den Adel explained that while the band has always evolved musically by incorporating new influences into their established style, the upcoming release will represent a significant departure.

'The thing is, why I can't tell you yet is because we're still recording and still developing, so it can still change a little bit here and there,' she said.

'Before I say it's gonna be jazz music, you'll think [a certain way], and then it turns out to be more metal anyway.

Then the change is not that big.

But it's gonna be, yeah, huge.' The band, which has released eight studio albums and sold over four million records, has shifted its creative approach since 2023's 'Bleed Out' LP.

Instead of releasing full albums, members have focused on releasing singles, allowing them greater creative freedom and enabling rapid releases of new music.

WITHIN TEMPTATION has previously headlined major European festivals including Download, Hellfest, Wacken Open Air, Graspop Metal Meeting, and Woodstock Poland.

During the pandemic, the band achieved success with its virtual event 'The Aftermath,' which utilized cutting-edge technology to redefine live performances.

The band’s work has earned numerous accolades, including a World Music Award, MTV Europe Music Awards, and a Metal Hammer Award, with hit songs like 'Ice Queen,' 'Paradise (What About Us?),' and a collaboration with Jacoby Shaddix of PAPA ROACH on 'The Reckoning' amassing millions of streams worldwide."
